Digital platform launched to connect artisans with buyers
12 October 2026
A digital marketplace aimed at helping traditional artisans from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir access buyers across the country was launched Sunday. The platform, Kalaanubhav.com, was unveiled by principal scientific adviser to the Govt of India Prof Ajay K Sood during a stakeholders’ meet held as part of the fourth All Science and Technology Clusters Meet in Chandigarh. Developed by the PU-IIT Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations Foundation (PI-RAHI), the platform seeks to reduce artisans’ dependence on intermediaries and expand their market reach. In its first phase, 35 artisans from the northern region have been onboarded. Kalaanubhav brings artisans, self-help groups, women entrepreneurs, handloom producers and handicraft makers onto a common digital marketplace. The initiative is based on a model developed by the Jodhpur City Knowledge and Innovation Foundation, with PI-RAHI adapting it for northern India. GenxAI is the implementation partner. An exhibition featuring seven craft traditions was also inaugurated.
